Some duties of our Personal Care Aides (PCA) Include:


  • foot1Personal Care Aides (PCA) can do all of the duties of a Home Support Aide (HCA)

In addition PCA’s receive training in these and many more areas:

  • Advanced personal care including – mouth and hair care, partial bed bath, incontinence care, etc.
  • Safely supporting and moving a chronically ill client
  • Use and handling of assistive devices
  • Monitors active and passive range of motion exercises and provides support as required
  • Recognizes specific indicators of physical, psychological/emotional, financial/exploitive, chemical abuse and or neglect and takes appropriate action
  • Identifies health and age-related factors that can contribute to falls in the home and takes corrective action if permitted
  • Safely guides a client who is not injured in getting up from a fall
  • Provide care that encourages self-management practices of the person with a disability
  • More in-depth training in Alzheimer’s, Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Parkinson’s, Muscular Dystrophy (MD), Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), Autism etc.
  • Delegated functions (these functions must be delegated by a nurse or other professional before a PCA can perform them)
